Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts/ Youyou Gallery
Workshop and exhibition initiated by Alfred Banze, In collaboration with Espace Apart, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Youyou Gallery.
The art project H-O-P-E is inspired by a mural painting inside the UN Security Council conference hall in New York, painted in 1950 by the Norwegian artist Per Krogh. H-O-P-E will be an interactive video installation, produced while workshops, collective sessions, and public presentations worldwide, by people from most different cultural backgrounds. it is in preparation for an international art exhibition in Berlin, Germany in April 2013. H-O-P-E is looking for visions and opinions about the United Nations. The United Nations today, can they bind the hope in peace for everybody? How can people better identify with the United Nations as a global instrument for peace, human rights, and social progresses? The first results of this ongoing project are presented on the project website. Short video clips were produced by people of different ages and backgrounds, from R.D. Congo, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Germany, France, USA, Tahiti and Australia.

The text of Demosthenes Agrafiotis included in the video:
” United Nations INOMENA ETHNI (greek expression).
The question is quite open: UN is -it a symptom
a solution
a instrument
a screen
of a vulnerable international system of governance?
Speaking from a country in profound crisis(Greece) ,my feeling is that UN has to attack the
heart of crisis : the globalisation without spirit of oecomenical perspective.”
I HOPE that this small contribution will be relevant.
