“CONFINEMENTS. A Corrosive Evaluation”

[Discourses _ Conversations_Performances. Demosthenes Agrafiotis, Alipio Carvalho Neto, Dimitrios Trikas ]

With the closure of the events/activities: “Confinements”  questions arise regarding the principles and procedures of the overall organization, the degree of satisfaction of the multiple expectations, the fruitful or not co-articulation of diachronicity and synchronicity in the understanding of extreme social situations (madness, asylum, surveillance, violence) and for the t(r)topological limits in the connections of the arts with exclusions and confinements.

PRESS RELEASE

Subject: Exhibition>

[“dialogues, interactions”.

Greek-French archive of Demosthenes Agrafiotis ]

The exhibition” Dialogues, interactions: Greek-French archive Demosthenes Agrafiotis” will present the donation offered to the G. Gounaropoulos Museum by the poet and intermedia artist, Demosthenes Agrafiotis. The donation was made in 2019 and is part of the long-term and essential relationship between Greek and French art and intellect. Its goal is “to pay tribute to the Greek-French culture of the painter Gounaropoulos”.

The donation includes two works by Agrafiotis, documents of his international, diverse activity and a number of French periodicals that deeply influenced the artist, including the magazines Critique (147 issues) and Le Cahier du Refuge (173 issues).

The monthly magazine Critique, of the historical publishing house: Les Éditions de Minuit, was first published in 1946 with founder Georges Bataille and continues to this day to be a tribune for the international literary, philosophical and generally intellectual avant-garde. Le Cahier du Refuge is a bulletin and at the same time an exemplary means of documenting the activity of the cipM Center international de poésie Marseille (Marseille International Poetry Center). The Center aims to promote poetry in all its forms through the presentation of a wide range of artistic activities from the international experimental scene.

Exhibition duration: February 17 – March 31, 2021

Until the expiration of the restrictive measures, according to which the museums are still closed to the public, the exhibition will be available only in digital form on the museum website, in the section “Exhibitions” (https://gounaropoulos.gr/exhibitions /), from 17 February.

Organization:
